The Tar Heels began the season talking about going to a third straight Final Four but instead finished the regular season wondering if they would get into the NIT. And even though UNC was invited to the second-tier tournament and put together four straight victories to reach the championship game — where they fell to Dayton 79-68 in Madison Square Garden on Thursday — the late run didn’t change Marcus Ginyard’s view of the season.
