Junior college transfer Eloy Vargas committed to Kentucky on Saturday, satisfying the Wildcats’ need for a quality big man who can step in and contribute right away. That might seem like a setback for North Carolina, which also had interest in the 6-foot-11 former Florida Gator and is equally desperate for big men to help fill the void left by the unexpected transfer of wins David and Travis Wear.
