Athlon magazine likes UNC’s defense

Athlon magazine has deemed the Tar Heels secondary and linebacking corps No. 1 in the country. Only Iowa’s defensive line is ranked ahead of the Tar Heels. Defensive tackle Marvin Austin has been selected first team All-America; linebacker Quan Sturdivant and cornerback Kendrick Burney were picked second-team; safety Deunta Williams was named third-team.
