UNC will add to its football staff by hiring Charlie Coiner, a veteran NFL assistant coach. Coiner started working at UNC on Tuesday and was officially hired yesterday. He will replace John Blake, the defensive-line coach who resigned Sept. 5. Coiner has an undergraduate degree from Catawba and a master’s from Appalachian State, and he started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Appalachian (1983-86).
