Tar Heels get no relief vs. Pirates

UNC's young and inexperienced secondary will get its first true test of the season today when in-state rival ECU and its spread offense visits Kenan Stadium. The Tar Heels were hoping to get back safety Deunta Williams and cornerback Kendric Burney -- who were suspended four and six games, respectively, for violating the NCAA agent benefits and preferential treatment rules -- but the NCAA denied the school's appeal of each on Friday.
