An unofficial count of Tar Heels not available at the end of the Miami game on Saturday was thought to be 23 – 14 injured, nine held out involvement in the NCAA investigation – but Davis half-joked with reporters on Thursday that the number was sitting at 27. Eight Tar Heels didn’t make the trip last weekend to South Florida due to injury, and linebacker Quan Sturdivant was on the wrong end of a game-time decision due to a lingering hamstring issue.
