Seattle Seahawks defensive lineman Kentwan Balmer will have his No. 90 high school jersey retired at halftime of Weldon’s boys basketball game Friday at Weldon. “I don’t know what to say,” Balmer, 24, said. “It’s nice to be recognized by your hometown. I’m humbled by it.” The 2004 Weldon graduate went on to star at UNC before becoming a 2008 first-round draft pick of the San Francisco 49ers.
