James McAdoo sets Virginia basketball playoff tournament record

James McAdoo closed his brilliant career by scoring 19 points to lead Norfolk Christian (Norfolk, Va.) to a 59-45 victory over Middleburg Academy (Middleburg, Va.) and the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association state championship. During the evening he received three standing ovations, according to the Virginian-Pilot. The highly regarded University of North Carolina recruit also left his mark in the semifinals by scoring a tournament-record 44 points during a 71-50 victory over Atlantic Shores (Chesapeake, Va.).
