Everett Withers and wife Kara had crafted a career plan the Charlotte native followed through seven stops in the college ranks and two in the National Football League. Since starting his coaching career in 1988 Withers was content to work for others, serving as a low-profile part of larger units, biding his time to reach for the ultimate decision-making reins. His resume included three years of service under Butch Davis at UNC.
