2011 Football Season Starts Saturday

North Carolina opens the 2011 season under interim head coach Everett Withers on Saturday, Sept. 3 vs. James Madison. The game will kickoff at 3:38 p.m. and will be televised by the Regional Sports Network. Withers is the first African-American head football coach in UNC history. He was named to the top post after Butch Davis was dismissed July 27, six weeks before the season began.
