Happy returns: UNC’s Thorpe is making the most of his opportunity on special teams
Posted Sep 15, 2011
After Rutgers scored with 18 seconds left in the first half, North Carolina was prepared to field the ensuing kickoff and then run out the clock. That was until freshman returner T.J. Thorpe fielded the bouncing ball at his 6 and raced down the right sideline, finally getting pushed out at the Rutgers 35. One play later, Casey Barth kicked a 46-yard field goal in a game the Tar Heels would go on to win by just two points.
