Familiarity not enough to lift underdog Appalachian State, Capel past UNC

Appalachian State coach Jason Capel runs many of the same concepts he learned as a four-year starter for North Carolina. So when he saw Kendall Marshall put two fists up Saturday night, Capel told his team that the Tar Heels would trap the first pass. And even though Capel changed the name of one play from B-1 to Detroit, when he called “Detroit,” Marshall quickly responded “B-1.”
