Joe Brown becomes Burke Sports HOF's newest member

A standing ovation fittingly morphed into claps in time to the beat of “I’m a Tar Heel Born” to culminate Friday’s induction of local basketball legend into the Burke County Sports Hall of Fame. Brown, a 1965 Valdese High graduate who played a part in the early years of the era at UNC, joined 17 previous members of the local hall of fame as the lone 2012 inductee. (Morganton News Herald)
