UNC Football Recruiting Week in Review

News and notes from the past week in UNC football recruiting:

-2013 UNC commit , a 4-star offensive tackle from Albemarle, NC emailed me Monday night and says that he continues to get even bigger: "Got my physical and I'm now 6'8" 300 lbs!"

-2012 QB commit discusses his decision to de-commit from ECU and join the Tar Heels in the latest entry to his recruiting journal for Inside Carolina.

-Rising star QB Anthony Jennings excelled at the Atlanta Elite 11 competition and hopes to visit UNC. Former NFL quarterback Trent Dilfer had some great things to say about Jennings.

-UNC leads South Carolina in the recruitment of Alan Knott, a 2013 offensive tackle recruit from Tyrone, GA (Sandy Creek).

-Connor Mitch, a 2013 4-star quarterback from Raleigh, NC (Wakefield), says that his two favorites are LSU and South Carolina. Mitch wants to play early, so perhaps UNC's depth at quarterback is hindering the Tar Heels' chances.

-2013 defensive end recruit Tyquan Lewis, from Tarboro, NC, says that UNC, Clemson and LSU are at the top of his list. However, he also says he wants to play in the SEC.

-2013 UNC running back commit was selected to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. Outside linebacker target LaChaston Smith, from Statesville, NC (South Iredell) was also named to the team.

-2013 WR Corey Cooper, from Raleigh, NC (Millbrook), visited Georgia Tech over the weekend and tells UNC WR commit that he plans to narrow down his list by early June.

-2013 QB target Carlis Parker from Statesville, NC has committed to Virginia Tech.

-UNC may be on the outside looking in for Lexington, NC running back Marquez Grayson, as he left the Tar Heels out of his top-3 of Clemson, South Carolina and Virginia Tech.

-The Florida Gators continue to be among the top poachers of North Carolina high school talent, as they've got their eyes on Richmond County offensive lineman and UNC target Tyrone Crowder.

-UNC has also offered a scholarship to defensive tackle Keith Bryant, a University of Miami commit. I've not heard anything yet on his interest level.

That's it for this week. Please feel free to send us your feedback or questions for next week's recap.
