Position battle: Bruce Carter catches owner's eye

Jerry Jones, just shooting the bull with a handful of reporters, made a point to mention the progress that he’s seen out of second-year inside linebacker Bruce Carter. That’s a pretty good sign for a guy in a battle for a starting job. The Cowboys need both Carter and Dan Connor, who signed a two-year, $6.5 million deal to come to Dallas this offseason, to contribute. They're competing to see who gets the majority of the snaps next to Sean Lee.
