Heels run out to big lead then hang on for win
Posted Oct 7, 2007
The Tar Heels, who led 27-0 at halftime, survived Miami's three-touchdown barrage in the third quarter and held on to defeat the Hurricanes 33-27. "This is a great win for us," said junior wide receiver Brandon Tate, who scored a 54-yard touchdown on an end around as part of UNC's first-half explosion. "This gives us momentum for the rest of the season. We're still fighting for a bowl game, and we're not out of it yet."
