Heels fumble away shot at upset
Posted Sep 30, 2007
UNC wide receiver Hakeem Nicks grabbed running back Ryan Houston on the sideline and saw tears welling up in his eyes after his momentum-changing fumble Saturday near the goal line. Houston's mistake cost North Carolina a shot at a tying touchdown in the third quarter. Four minutes, 53 seconds later, an interception of a tipped ball set up a touchdown by 17th-ranked Virginia Tech as the Tar Heels fell 17-10 at Lane Stadium.
