Heels' Late Rally Falls Short

UNC's late-charging offense and resurgent defense could not overcome two costly turnovers, as No. 17 Virginia Tech won its Homecoming game 17-10 in front of 66,233 fans at Lane Stadium. For the second consecutive week, a freshman tailback delivered in the fourth quarter as exploded with 74 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries, giving the Tar Heels their highest rushing total on the season (124 yards).
