Batten: Tar Heels' time in purgatory ends in triumph
Posted Nov 25, 2012
There will be no bowl game or championship trophy for the 2012 edition of the North Carolina Tar Heels, even though they earned it on the field. Under normal circumstances, the 45-38 victory against Maryland at Kenan Stadium on Saturday would have landed UNC in the ACC championship game. The triumph made the Tar Heels 8-4 overall and more than eligible for postseason play.
