Giovani Bernard — expected to be among the first running backs chosen in the NFL draft — hated summers, because there was no cafeteria food to rely on. He remembers being hungry, living off the McDonald's dollar menu. "A lot of people hated going to school, but for me it was a sanctuary," he said. "You had food, air conditioning. And the football field was my haven."
