Execution on defense is critical for Tar Heels

The Tar Heels struggled last year to adjust to a 4-2-5 scheme and surrendered an average 25.7 points. They allowed at least 33 points six times, including 68 in a home loss to Georgia Tech. Larry Fedora entered the preseason hoping the trend would shift with the return of end Kareem Martin and four starters in the secondary. But there seemed to be little improvement against the Gamecocks.
