Roy Williams visits Wilson, NC to watch Brandon Ingram (and eat some barbecue)
Posted Dec 12, 2013
Roy Williams continued his recruiting binge Wednesday night as he and UNC assistant coach Hubert Davis visited Wilson, NC (and Parker's Barbecue) to watch 2015 small forward Brandon Ingram's Kinston High squad take on Wilson Hunt. Coaches from Duke and NC State were also on hand as Ingram scored 27 points and grabbed 9 rebounds, leading Kinston to a 65-60 win.
Ingram has already made numerous trips to Chapel Hill and will take another visit Saturday to watch the Tar Heels take on Kentucky. And although he holds a scholarship offer from Williams and attends the same high school as UNC basketball alums Jerry Stackhouse and Reggie Bullock, Ingram recently said that he feels no pressure to follow in their footsteps to Chapel Hill.
Wednesday marked the third night in a row that Williams has made a recruiting visit, taking advantage of the free time resulting from a reduced practice schedule as the Tar Heels take their final exams. Monday, Williams was in Columbia, SC to watch 2016 point guard Seventh Woods. Tuesday night he was is Racine, Wisconsin watching 2015 center Diamond Stone.
Here's a highlight video of Brandon Ingram, who is currently the only small forward with a scholarship offer on UNC's 2015 basketball recruiting board.
