North Carolina needed one more inconsistent half to transition into a new year. After a lackluster first half, the No. 19 Tar Heels accelerated past UNC Wilmington in the second half for an 84-51 victory Tuesday at the Smith Center to close 2013 and cap their non-conference schedule in men’s basketball. “Right now we’re going to leave that in 2013 and have that second half bring us into 2014,” senior Leslie McDonald said.
