The ACC’s worst defense in 2014 is the league’s biggest turnaround story to this point of 2015. How? North Carolina has stayed committed to the simple message delivered by its first-year coordinator. “Regardless of how many points our offense scores,” linebacker Jeff Schoettmer remembered Gene Chizik telling the Tar Heels not long after his January hire, “we have to be able to win the game on defense.”
