Butch Davis doesn't look far for 1st recruit

Butch Davis capitalized on his connections with the Cleveland Browns to get his first commitment as North Carolina's coach. Matt Merletti, son of Browns chief administrative officer Lew Merletti, was a ball boy for the Browns when Davis was their head coach. "Butch Davis has known this kid for a while," said St. Ignatius High coach Chuck Kyle.
