Deacons dump hapless Heels
Posted Oct 29, 2006
The Tar Heels played inspired football in light of the pending departure of coach John Bunting. The Tar Heels took over on their own 20-yard line with four minutes to go and down a touchdown. North Carolina's offense sputtered, then drove as deep as the Wake Forest 3-yard line with under a minute remaining. But on first down, Dailey slipped on an option play, losing three yards. Then, with precious seconds ticking away, Dailey spiked the ball on second down. On third, he made a fatal mistake.
