Clarification on Marcus Paige


Tar Heel Times recently linked to an inaccurate report that had changed teams from the Greensboro Swarm to the Oklahoma City Blue. That report has since been removed and I wanted to share a message from the Greensboro Swarm's Communications team clarifying the matter. Our apologies for the misunderstanding:

Wanted to reach out and provide some quick clarification on the status of as there are a couple of false reports out there on Twitter. Yesterday the Oklahoma City Blue, the NBA G League affiliate of the Thunder, acquired Paige’s NBA G League returning rights in a trade with the Salt Lake City Stars, the Utah Jazz’s affiliate. That has led to a couple of false reports out there on Twitter and other mediums that Paige is now on the move to Oklahoma City for this season. A NBA two-way contract however supersedes a G League contract, so Marcus is indeed still with the Hornets, and therefore Charlotte’s G League affiliate the Greensboro Swarm, for this upcoming season. If next season, he was to be waived by the Hornets and enter the G League as a standard G League player, not an NBA two-way player, that is when he would be with the Oklahoma City Blue.
