UNC's Defense Falls Short of Expectations

As safety Donnie Miles walked into the locker room following Saturday’s 35-30 loss to California, he couldn’t avoid the urge to confront his defense. This was the unit that entered the season with heavyweight expectations to carry a young Tar Heel offense in the early part of the season. Instead, it was the unit that gave up five touchdowns in a third-straight season-opening loss.
