Former Asheville High standout Johnny White almost missed his first football practice Friday at UNC. White was among four freshmen identified as players not eligible to practice because they haven't been certified by the NCAA Initial Eligibility Clearinghouse. AHS coach Danny Wilkins said the problem with White was a "technicality" over a math class and that he and athletic director Rex Wells had been working with UNC coaches and the NCAA for several weeks to get the problem solved.
