How Roy Williams' Scheduling Philosophy Differs From Dean Smith's

Normally, a team at the level of Elon will never get a home game against a P5 opponent, let alone one that is in their back yard. It also never would have happened under Roy Williams’ mentor Dean Smith. Famously, one of the biggest pieces of advice that Frank McGuire gave Smith was to never schedule in-state opponents. Smith strictly held to that philosophy.
