Chris Hawkins realizing dream of a lifetime
Posted May 5, 2006
Former UNC defensive back Chris Hawkins has signed a free agent contract with the Washington Redskins. Money and draft status are side issues to Hawkins, however, who is realizing a long-time goal. The Kinston, N.C. native appeared on track early, earning playing time at UNC as a true freshman and recording eight pass breakups in 12 games as a sophomore. He was dismissed from the Tar Heels in 2003, however, and found a new home in Huntington.
