Matt Doherty, SMU Mustangs see improvement despite record
Posted Mar 12, 2009
SMU athletic director Steve Orsini doesn't think of Matt Doherty as merely the Mustangs' men's basketball coach. CEO is more like it. The way Doherty pores over details – such as the environment during study hall or the level of sports medicine support brings Orsini great comfort. But business is far from booming. The Mustangs (9-20) start their third Conference USA tournament under Doherty seeded 12th – their second 20-loss season in a row.
