Playing 18 holes with Big Ten commish Jim Delany
Posted Jul 25, 2009
He's known as "The Commish" in Big Ten circles, but Jim Delany sometimes sounds more like Tom Izzo or Joe Paterno. Give him a chalkboard and whistle, and he'd fit right in. He was good enough to play for Dean Smith at North Carolina, serving as a captain of the 1969-70 Tar Heels. He teamed with Charlie Scott and Eddie Fogler on the freshman team, which was coached by a Carolina alum named Larry Brown.
