UNC Basketball Recruiting Week in Review: 10/17/2010

Here is a brief rundown of last week's UNC basketball recruiting activity for the week ending October 16th, 2010.

Obviously, the big recruiting news centered around "Late Night with ." Several UNC commits as well at hot prospects attended the event, and by all accounts each of the prospects enjoyed themselves. Here's a list of the recruits in attendance:

(2011 5-star SG) committed to UNC
(2011 5-star PF) committed to UNC
(2011 3-star PF) committed to UNC
Cody Zeller (2011 5-star PF) uncommitted
John Cannon (2011 3-star C) uncommitted
(2012 5-star SF) uncommitted
L.J. Rose (2012 5-star PG) uncommitted
n (2014 PF) uncommitted

The big news to come out of the weekend is that UNC has offered a scholarship to 2012 point guard L.J. Rose out of Houston, Texas. Rose becomes the fifth prospect to receive an offer for the class of 2012 along with SG , C Cameron Ridley, SF and SF Alex Murphy.

Shooting guard Rodney Purvis, who attended Duke's "Countdown to Craziness" event over the weekend made himself available for one of UNC's 2012 scholarships by reclassifying from the 2013 class to the 2012 class. Thus far he has not received an offer from UNC and it's unsure how his reclassification will affect his recruitment by .

As of now, Purvis appears to be a Duke lean with Muhammad more likely to be UNC's 2012 shooting guard signee. Before leaving Chapel Hill, Muhammad Tweeted, "Really enjoyed my self in chapel hill hanging out with Harrison, Kendall, Reggie, and John now heading back home !!!!" Stay tuned, however, as these situations are always fluid.

UNC also appears to have a head start on the 2014 class, having invited power forward n (6'8", 210, Cleveland, OH) to attend the event.

2011 3-star center John Cannon is considering committing to UNC in a walk-on role a la 3-star PF , who recently committed to UNC as a walk-on.
