Sean May says he misunderstood rules
Posted Oct 2, 2007
Sean May said Monday he didn't realize he might be violating NCAA rules by speaking with UNC basketball recruit Iman Shumpert during an official visit to Chapel Hill in September. North Carolina is reviewing whether rules were broken during the visit, when Shumpert said he spoke with and played pickup games with May, Raymond Felton and Marvin Williams. NCAA rules forbid representatives of a school's athletics interests from making recruiting contacts.
