This Tar Heel better known for marriage


Even in his early 70s, has the look of a former successful athlete. Lotz was a forward-center for the UNC basketball team which captured the national championship in 1957. As the sixth man at 6-6, 230 pounds, he smilingly referred to himself as “The Beast.” Despite such acclaim on a national title team, Lotz might be better known for his long-time marriage into a famous family. He first met his wife here in 1963. (Calhoun Times)
