Frank McGuire's contributions worthy of N.C. hall of fame

There are 243 people in the N.C. Sports Hall of Fame, none of whom is Frank McGuire. That raw spot got rubbed again Saturday when UNC honored the 1957 team that went 32-0. I've argued McGuire's case before, twice as a member of the Hall of Fame selection committee. The party line is that McGuire lived in North Carolina only nine years and the minimum for induction is 10. That's a convenient explanation, but that requirement already has been breached twice, so it is not a legitimate reason for exempting McGuire. (Charlotte Observer)
