Matt Doherty thinks he's better coach after UNC ordeal
Posted Jan 31, 2007
A Carolina blue jersey with his No. 44 hangs in Matt Doherty's office at Southern Methodist, although the Tar Heels fired him as their coach almost four years ago. "I didn't get a fair shake at North Carolina," said Doherty. "They had the right to make a coaching change, but I don't think they did it in a respectful manner. They didn't handle it very well, and I think they'd admit that. But I made mistakes, too. I'm probably better off for it."
