J.R. Smith clicking his Heels at chance to play for Karl
Posted Jul 20, 2006
J.R. Smith already likes one thing about his new coach. "That's the best thing about him," Smith said of Nuggets coach George Karl having graduated from the University of North Carolina. Smith grew up wanting to play for the school. He has worn No. 23 because of Tar Heels legend Michael Jordan. But Smith, after signing with North Carolina, decided to enter the NBA from high school in 2004. Smith has met Karl twice, with Karl joking he should have joined the Tar Heels. "He's still part of the Carolina brethren," Karl said.
